Sandblasting: Blast It Off!
Sandblasting is used in a variety of fields. There are a myriad of machines and mixes for just about any purpose. The process is simple. A powder or sand-like composition is “blasted” from a surface using, in most cases, compressed air. Since the 1870’s, the construction industry has been using this tool to clean and finish surfaces.

Sandblasting is used widely in the construction field for finishing surfaces, removing paint, cleaning equipment, and more. Sandblasting must occur in a well-ventilated area, or in a “blast room”. The dust produced during the sandblasting process is linked to several respiratory diseases and can be harmful if inhaled. Proper training and safety equipment must be in place before any sandblasting job takes place.

Equipment for sandblasting ranges to suit the need. Dentists will use a different type of blaster than a steel construction company. Knowing what your needs are will determine what type of equipment you will need and how expensive it is going to be. Equipment can cost from a couple of hundred dollars to several thousands of dollars.
